Subscribe

If you’re using an “RSS reader,” subscribe to all or just some of the posts on this site by clicking the “RSS” links in the “Updates” section in the right column. [”All headlines” will include all news. “Announcements” are just the news items important enough to be promoted to this site’s front page.]

If you’d like to learn more about RSS, see this gentle introduction to RSS.

However, if you’re not ready to move to the new way of getting information from this web site, read on to learn how to subscribe via e-mail.

To get an e-mail whenever a news item is posted to this site, enter your e-mail address and click the “Subscribe!” button

Email:

This will take you to the RSSfwd site, where you’ll need to enter your e-mail address (click the “sign up” if this is the first time or “login” if you’ve used it before). Then cllick the “Sign Up” button and you’ll get to a form with one more question. Choose whether you want to get news daily, weekly, or as the items are posted (i.e. “real time”). Then click “Subscribe to this Feed” and you’ll start to get e-mails from the site.

To get e-mail about, say, just public policy updates,

  • go to http://rssfwd.com
  • enter the address http://www.aauwnc.org/category/general/publicpolicy/feed/ in the “URL you’d like to subscribe to”
  • click the submit button
  • wait for a sample e-mail message to appear — it may take a minute or so
  • click “login” or “sign up” to get the e-mail form.
  • enter your e-mail addres and click the “Sign Up” button
  • choose a frequency and click the “Suscribe to this Feed” button.

That’s it! Instead of the “public policy” link, you can use the other RSS links from the right-hand menu, for instance

We still do use the e-mail list, aauwnc-list@rtpnet.org for certain time critical items and the e-newsletters. If you are an AAUW NC member, send a message

To: aauwnc-list-subscribe@rtpnet.org

to join that.

Finally, we also have a system that sends out a text message whenever we post an “announcement” (an item that’s important enough that it shows up on the aauwnc.org home page). For information on how to get those, see this article on using twitter for AAUW NC.
