PRESIDENTS’ MESSAGE: We are kicking off the New Year with a very exciting program. In keeping with AAUW’s “Women in Technology” focus, our January program is a two-parter. On January 22 at 6:30 p.m. we will meet in Classroom #104, Building AS-320, New River Air Station, to hear Sue Currie, Flight Simulator Technician, tell about her work and how she got there. On Friday, January 26 from 2-4:00 p.m. we will have the opportunity to “fly” the simulator. See below for more details.

PART II – Friday, January 26, 2-4:00 p.m., Building AS-320, New River Air Station. Tour: “Flying the Simulator”. Special note about this part of the program: You must be able to climb stairs to get into the simulator. Also, we are limited to this 2-hour time slot and to a certain number of people. If you want your husband to join us, please contact Connie (910/346-8223 or cgo@ec.rr.com) to inquire if there is room.

Transportation on either day: If you do not have a base sticker on your car and do not want to deal with visitor pass issues at the Air Station gate, please contact Connie for carpooling possibilities.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES PROJECT: If you have not already done so, please bring your school supplies to the January 22 meeting. Judy, Margaret and Heather are ready to assemble the refill packages going to each of our seven chosen schools. We will be continuing this project through June 2007. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.

NOMINATIONS: The AAUW/NC Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for State Treasurer, VP Programs and President Elect for the 2007-2008 term. Voting will take place in Winston-Salem at the state convention in April. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else in your branch, please contact Connie (910/346-8223 or cgo@ec.rr.com). Participating on the state level broadens your appreciation of the important work AAUW does, and gives you the opportunity to serve in a meaningful way.
