PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

Greetings! I am looking forward to our Annual Meeting. We will be dining at the Duck’s Bar and Grille in Swansboro. We usually elect our officers for the coming year at this meeting, so be prepared for a lively discussion on this topic.

Feel free to forward this newsletter to someone you think would be an ideal candidate for AAUW membership.

– JoAnn Hall

OUR NEXT MEETING: May 22 (Sunday), 2:00 p.m. – Annual Meeting and elections at Duck’s Grille and Bar in Swansboro (in the former Gourmet Cafe location). We will order from the menu. Guests are more than welcome.

MEMBERSHIP DIVERSITY: In 2007, AAUW NC’s Diversity Chair asked branches to participate in a diversity survey to better determine the make-up of each branch and thereby seek to fill in the gaps. Attached is a summary of that survey, plus the new data for 2011. In certain categories the numbers do not equal the number of members in our branch due to multiple answers for one person, or because some people did not respond at all. The information is interesting, however, in giving a brief overview of our branch membership.

REMINDER: Our branch website is available 24 hours a day with our branch newsletters, current and past, and the latest information on what we are doing. So if you accidentally erase this e-mail, don’t worry. We are still here! Go to www.jacksonville.aauwnc.org .

BOOKS FOR THE ONSLOW LITERACY COUNCIL: We are collecting books such as texts; dictionaries; classics – think Tom Sawyer, etc.; and history books. Bring your donations to the May 22 Annual Meeting for delivery to the Council. Thanks in advance! For more information, go to www.onslowliteracy.zxq.net . (Be sure to look for our picture in the Scrapbook section of the Sunday Daily News in the next week or two showing our meeting with Collette.)
