The Cape Fear branch was founded in 1954 as the AAUW Wilmington Branch and changed its name to better reflect a membership that comes from several communities in the area. It has a long history of community service, advancing AAUW goals, and collaborating with UNC Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College.
Local dues are $30 in addition to the $70 for AAUW and AAUW NC.
